I'd like to stay....

lets talk about la moda.... I'm a people watcher so I've seen a lot. One, whats with the bangs that cut to the middle of your forehead. I would not try to attempt that look in America, but I've seen this so much here. I could go on and on about the bright pink/red hair I've also seen on middle aged women and the most disgusting rat tails I've observed. First place for the rat tail award definitely went to the man I saw at Santander today where the top was buzzed and he had dread locks in his rat tail reaching half way down his back. I promise this is true. Onto the clothes... jorts are everywhere! Not only do boys rock the jorts but they also roll them at the bottom to make them higher above their knee. They also love to wear shirts that show their chest including deep V necks and the "situation" below, who was wearing a wide neck tee which I can definitely say I've never seen in America before. Im not complaining though. Overall, I think men here definitely dress much better than the men in the US and are definitely a lot more "pretty". For the ladies, I've noticed a lot of women wearing scarves which are also worn in the US, but not as popular in mid summer. Also I've never seen women wear so much spandex in the summer. In the US spandex are also popular but very rarely worn in the summer.
Chicas, chicos, (y ninos) - I've definitely met some very nice people here and I've definitely met some very rude people here. I can't stand how people will bump into me and then not even acknowledge the fact... that is rude. On the more positive note I've met some people out that were very friendly and interested that I am from America. I think its really obvious to them that we are American. I've also notice the PDA going on between these chicos y chicas and it is way more excessive here than in America and I also think that it could be less frowned upon to pubicly display a lot of affection.

I have started to really enjoy tandem, the first day I was very nervous and it was not a good experience.  I keep being double teamed with Spanish students and lets just say that can get awkward. It was better the second day when I was grouped with two boys because they definitely talked a lot slower for me and we weirdly had a lot in common. It was also very funny with them when they asked me if all parties in the US are like the movie American Pie. Overall, I think this is a very good excercise for this course and it has definitely made me more comfortable trying to communicate in Spanish. I have also learned a lot by having my own piers explaining their lives Spain and I enjoy seeing them interested in how life is in America.
