la moda, la gente, y Tandem

I haven't really seen one particular style of clothes or haircuts that seems more popular than any of the others, but I have noticed that Spanish people are always very well put together.  No matter what style they are wearing, they wear the full ensemble or nothing at all.  All the styles I have seen here exist in the USA, but Americans are not shy about leaving the house in sweatpants.

Everyone I have talked to in Bilbao has been very nice.  People here do not mind stopping to give directions if you are lost.  I have noticed that if I say a word in English because I do not know the Spanish translation, the person I am talking to usually switches to English for the rest of the conversation even when I try to keep speaking Spanish.  It is a little awkward, but this kind of conversation is also fun.

I think that Tandem is a great part of this class.  I have learned a lot, but I always seem to run out of questions for my partner.  I do not think he likes to ask questions because he usually waits for me to ask questions whether we are speaking in English or Spanish.  This makes the conversation a lot of work for me because he usually comes up with short concise answers for all of my questions.  I will probably do my project on either food or tourism in Bilbao because he likes to cook and he works as a travel agent, so those are the two topics that he has talked about the most so far.
